Next we went to Auckland Zoo. We walked around looking at
all the animal enclosures before we had tea. We saw some animals that are
endangered like the Kiwi, Little Blue Penguin and the Cheetah. During the
evening we went for a safari walk with two hosts. We were told how palm oil is
destructive to animals as their natural habitats are being destroyed in order
to produce the oil.
Justis and Thomas were chosen to feed the Hippos Faith and
Fudge, the mother/son. They threw a cabbage each into their mouths.
We stayed in the old elephant enclosure. In the morning we
got to go and look at the Siamang Gibbons. The male Gibbon was calling
(singing) his throat sac was inflating and deflating.
After the Zoo we went to the Wave pools where we went down
the hydro slide. Next we went to Big Ups, an indoor inflatable type park. We
went in the Zorb's, rolling around trying to knock each other over.
